This is important more so for the HF users, if you have not been on a BBS for a while and you issue the L (list) command you are like to get more then then you expected. This can really tie up an HF frequency.
When you log into a BBS we suggest you use the OP ## command to set the number list line returned. At the end of each return you will then get an option to continue or abort.
We recommend you start with op 20!
